Symbiosis

You could say that Trump needs the Squad as much as the Squad needs Trump. Symbiosis can happen when two parasites unite for their mutual survival. Nasty, but when directed to politics can be disastrous. In business, it can be beneficial.   In religion, it is conflicting. In the home, it is debilitating. Xenophobia is more common than the common cold.    E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E.

Politics 2018

Politics in America edges ever closer and closer to insanity. It seems that when a politician arrives in DC, they are instructed to leave intelligence behind - and do. They need help - in the form of a GPS direction finder. The Democrats used their new on board GPS destination finder with input destination “Victory this fall.” Their machine first tells them “Lean left.”   Then “Turn left.” Then “Veer left.” Then “Lurch left.” The “Swerve left.” Then “Collapse to the left.” Then “Go Cuban.” Got it. Even poor Nancy has been caught by the new GPS machine. When Schumer buys-in, the mission is complete.  ---------------------------- The Republicans also bought such a machine, giving it the same destination.  Their machine told them “Lean this way and that way and this way and that way and …” And that’s just what they’re doing. ----------------------------- Now Trump looks this over and says, you guessed it, "I don't need no stinkin' machine.&quo

Just a Few, Ma'am

3/27/18. Now retired! Spend much time watching the stock market, where many of my $$ are invested. Last week was depressing. So, I watch the business news, a lot.   Fact about business shows: they trot in well dressed bull market advocates alternatively with equally well dressed bear market advocates. After enough of this, you are totally confused. What I've noticed about these "experts" is that each uses only a few parameters upon which they rely.   These are mixed with a rather heavy helping of intuition.  Just like us in every day living. Turning to politics, we are led to our leaders and which or what are the few parameters that guide them.   For Obama, it seemed that globalism and its corollaries were at the base of his thinking.   Namely, his desire to convert the world to a globalist Utopian dream.   Simple and idealistic.   For Trump, the parameters are not that clear, but he seems to prefers a more nationalistic view of the world where it remains divided int

Robert S. Mueller

Here is a situation where the President and company think Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller hired assistants completely in the tank for the destruction of Trump, while the Democrats in lock step believe he’s doing a great service, code for meaning he intends to destroy Trump.*  The sad possibility is that Mueller may have been as duped by the process as was his whole cadre of critics, falsely assuming all along his appointments would be completely impartial. Thus, could the leader of this special investigation be himself a pawn of his own staff?  After all, Mueller’s stellar reputation did not come from a history of partisanship.   If any part of this is true, Mueller finds himself in a trick box no matter what he does.  Fire the partisans and the Dems will claim he has been intimidated.  Keep them, and the Reps claim he has been bought by or is, in fact, part of the Resistance.  It is more than possible everyone involved has been duped though in variegated ways. Poor Ro

Trump Family Dinner

I would love to sit at a Trump family dinner.  We have from daughters to daughters-in-law, from sons to sons-in-law, all claiming expertise at everything, while having created their own news headlines.  I fear a lot of indigestion must result, while the whole crew retires to the “drawing room” for a break.   The President is thinking ahead of getting back to the office where only world problems, NOKO, Russia, China, Democrat issues, and Republicans controversies await.  A moment of relief this surely provides. -------------------------- I do not support public figures or anyone accused of these sexual molestation charges, but most of those charged were doing not too much less (except for assault) than what the vaunted James Bond was doing in the sixties and seventies. Just watch the movies Thunderball or Goldfinger , and you will see our super-spy doing even more than Franken is accused of – kissing, hugging, intimidating women.  At the time, this was cool; this was humor

Aging is Back

In our youth-obsessed culture, a paradox is all around us.   Namely, b oth political parties seem embedded with aging and tired players who refuse to give up their places on the center stage of American politics.  They seem not recognize the world is changing - has changed - around them. They hearken back to younger days when they learned their craft, often causing more damage than good. These include Clinton, Pelosi, McCain, Mitchell, Sanders, and others. All have big influence in that whatever they say is widely carried by news outlets. This, in turn, fuels the pundits with days of moronic commentary.  You pick the channel. Technically, we call this a feedback loop. On this note: Have you ever noted the background persons in NOKO Kim Jong Un’s public appearances?  All, almost without exception, seem to be aging generals and admirals. I guess Kim likes people around him that could or likely would not be competitors. This is not prejudice against the aging, given I am

Random Thoughts - 7

Bill de Blasio . It used to be that college students would imitate adults.  Wearing suits and elegant attire, they would act as mature as they could. Nowadays, it is the reverse.  Adults are imitating college students, supporting all manner of youthful positions, mostly extreme uncompromising views – the typical fair of sophomores.  Case-in-point.  With NY City in grief over the loss of a police officer to assassination, the mayor jets off to Europe to hang with a bunch of protesters with seeming goal simply to protest. The man seems to be singularly immature, usually a recoverable illness, but not in his case. --------------------- Presidents . Clinton was bogged down a lot by personal issues. Bush was bogged down by wars in the Middle East. Obama was bogged down by trying to remake the US and the world into a globally unified enterprise.   The question is: Who’s taking care of our country?  This includes the bridges and roadways, the waterways and schools, the power plan

Presidential Speeches

Analysis of recent presidential speeches. Trump: Discusses his version of the issues from his viewpoint, using his personal language.  Often he adds "bonbons." Interesting they are but often create news beyond their value.  After about 45 minutes, one tires of listening,  mostly because of repetition. Trump loves to meet his supporters in an open forum. Trump has learned to use the prompter.  Thankfully. Obama: Well crafted, well cadenced, well articulated speeches almost always based on ideology, not practicality, but extremely predictable. Very much like a college lecture, they simply drone on - and on. Eventually, one is unsure of whether he/she is tuned in or out.   Obama loves to give speeches to anyone. Obama relied on the prompter. Thankfully. Neither excel at spontaneous commentary.  Obama reveals ideology even further, sometimes sounding sophomoric; Trump sometimes expresses rather bizarre sentiments.

Love and hate - politically speaking

Timeline for James Comey.  There are two emotional threads.  Love and hate and then hate and love. July 5, 2016 .  Comey condemns Clinton for mishandling classified information.  But then say we will not indict.   Dems love it.  Reps hate it. October 28, 2016 .   Comey’s wait a minute moment.  We reopen the investigation, found new emails with classified info on Anthony Weiner’s laptop. Oops.  Reps love it. Dems hate it. Interim.  Both sides generally disdain Comey basically because he seems beyond the control of anyone.  Reps hate Comey; Dems hate Comey.  Especially, Hillary hates Comey, blaming his “re-opening letter” as a primary cause for her loss. May 9, 2017.  Trump fires Comey.  Reps claim it was appropriate; Dems also, probably.  However, because Trump did the deed, Dems hate it; Reps love it. Even the Nixonian metaphor has been issued – within an hour of the termination letter!  But it’s OK since it was made by an aging Senator.  “Never let a crisis go to

Go Figure

Trump.  Nowadays...  If you watch left-leaning channels, you will rarely hear anything positive about Trump.  If you watch the other channels, you will hear constant editorials about how Trump is not living up to promises.  I mean like we are only at about 100 days in.  The Dems are locked into a unity of contempt; the Reps seem to have more camps of interest than most countries have political parties, each criticizing Trump isn’t pure enough in their direction.  Promises???  Most newly elected officials simply say what's that?  Go figure. -------------------------------- Salt.  When I was a kid, years and years ago, almost every locker room had salt dispensers.  We were advised to take some any time we felt we needed the mineral.  Then, suddenly they disappeared, with the admonition that it was only rarely needed.  More damage than harm, etc. Now it’s back with trainers recommending the need for salt when working out or playing hard.  Go figure. ------------------

Trumophobiacs vs Trumpomaniacs

On Trump:   Two sides seem to dominate what we read.   The Trumpophobiacs who fear his presidency and wish to defeat it before it hardly begins.   The Trumpomanics who believe he will finally fix things and restore America upon its traditional course.   These have the tones of a classical Zoroastrian religious conflict: the arrival of a devil to be defeated vs. the new coming for redemption of all.    Please note he is merely a man trying to follow some internal compass to do what is right – just as Obama did.   But is it right?   Time will tell.   Adoration or condemnation is not the way to resolve your problem. If you believe one or the other, you surely will be disappointed.

Fraud, Sickness, and Trump

A.     Fraud :   Beware, my friend, of anyone or any party that proposes to pay for any government program by eliminating fraud.   The fundamental problem with this claim is simply that the amount of fraud, how it is done, and to what fiscal extent are largely unknown – admittedly so by the feds.   Only special cases are understood.   Specifically, all flavors of federal medical care should be singled out.   Some estimate it amounts to $60,000,000,000/year.   Fraud is amazingly difficult uncover, to prosecute, and then to prove.   Even organized crime has recognized it as an income source far less dangerous or risky than traditional venues. Miami, for example, is considered the Medicare fraud center of America, with New York a close second. Fraud in the defense industry, largely through cost overruns, has been rampant for decades, but what has been done?   Give just one example? B.     Sickness to continue: ·        Democrats: Repealing Obamacare will "make America sick
