How Old Is Grandma?

Grandma had another birthday approaching, and naturally people will ask her age.  So, she decided on a strategy.  She decided, "I will say I'm closer to 70 years old than 60." Question: How old is grandma? | | | | \ \ \ \ | | | | Answer: You are led to say she is between 65 and 70.  Her response guides you to this, but here is her clever deception.  In fact, with the information given, all you can say is she is older than 65. She could be 93, and the statement is still correct. Clever, tricky, still sharp is granny.

Life Tells You About Age

You know you're getting older when... You frequently see commercials featuring a middle-aged woman walking around with a cartoon bladder and selling some medication to help with peeing too often.  Indeed, almost every bodily organ has a cartoon avatar helping pitch some medication to fix it.  Look them up! These meds are expensive!  Other medications about sleeping better come one after another. Pillows and snoring too! You get by mail ads from the Neptune society - featuring cremation specials.  You get multiple requests for getting cash from a reverse mortgage. Your kids call you just checking to see if you answer the phone. You find yourself with aches and pain in places you never knew had nerve endings. You remember you forgot something important, but can't recall what it is. You keep a spare key to the house in a hidden place, because you know you'll need it any day now. You've seen clothing styles come and go, sometimes three times. More items to come

On Aging - Part III Age and Trust

Whether you support either Governor Romney or President Obama, whether you have strong political views favoring one or the other, whether you don't really care who wins, there is one aspect of this political race that is missing all news coverage.  It is Age . Gov. Romney is 65 years old, putting him at the traditional retirement age for most people.  This age of retirement is when folks, having worked a lifetime, can take moments to reflect on life, enjoy their family, read a few books, and otherwise take it easy.  Romney, at this same age, is competing for the most stressful job on earth.  It is one of those 24/7 jobs where just one misstep can cost billions in dollars, millions in jobs, and thousands in lives. This job allows its holder to set long term trajectories for a powerful nation, arguably the most powerful nation on earth.
