Trump Family Dinner

I would love to sit at a Trump family dinner.  We have from daughters to daughters-in-law, from sons to sons-in-law, all claiming expertise at everything, while having created their own news headlines.  I fear a lot of indigestion must result, while the whole crew retires to the “drawing room” for a break.  

The President is thinking ahead of getting back to the office where only world problems, NOKO, Russia, China, Democrat issues, and Republicans controversies await.  A moment of relief this surely provides.

I do not support public figures or anyone accused of these sexual molestation charges, but most of those charged were doing not too much less (except for assault) than what the vaunted James Bond was doing in the sixties and seventies. Just watch the movies Thunderball or Goldfinger, and you will see our super-spy doing even more than Franken is accused of – kissing, hugging, intimidating women.  At the time, this was cool; this was humorous; this was accepted.  This was the way it was for an entire generation of men and women – and not just with Bond flicks.

The men were so sanctioned; the women, while certainly not liking it, expected it.   Now, thankfully and hopefully, it is over.


Anyone in authority or a celebrity really does affect others.  All along, they issued disclaimers of their influence. This is simply false.  They have a huge affect and continue to do so. From Hollywood, we now have the good bad guy vs. the bad bad guy movies, with the good bad guy winning in the end.  I can’t help but think this creates a confused state for many viewers.

No Sympathy From Me

Suicide Coming Home Many years ago, a friend hung himself in his basement.  I was a pall-bearer at his funeral. I was shocked I was so asked.  I did this.  I did not understand why a good-looking fellow, intelligent, kindly, and true could do such a thing. He did. I do not.  His family suffered greatly.  Yet he left no issue.   Thankfully. To my mind Country singer Mindy McCready, 37, showed us the very height of personal selfishness by committing suicide.  By giving birth to two offspring, she accepted the responsibility to raise her newborn and six-year old son.  She abrogated it spectacularly.  (As did the father a month ago.)  Though she may have suffered depression for any number of reasons, she has little sympathy from me for leaving behind a legacy that is now lost, is now parent-less, and may drift into problems of their own in the future.    There is shame and heartbreak in all this, but blame should be...
