Creativity

Creativity and innovation can be compared with learning to high dive.  You can read books on them for days, months, or years. But until you actually do it, you don't know how, and moreover hardly know what to do.  A complement I always give athletes, is that they practice, and hopefully with a patient coach. They know practice is essential. But for creativity, some think they just need a course or a couple online videos, and they're ready to create. Not so. Bottom line is that creativity is both a skill and an intellectual activity. Without practice and even with, there's never a guarantee. BTW, most attempts at creativity amount to crap, just like those first dives into the deep.

GOT HOPE?

Always have hope! Hope is like a tiny battery deep inside you that must not fail. If it fails, you fail. If you have hope, your system is activated to action.   With hope, you may try, work, invent and explore new ideas. You have a burden lifted into your being to discover new unknowns.   Without hope, you languish in a valley of inaction. Hope, like love, is fragile, easily breakable at first.   As well, hope can carry through the most difficult times. SPORTS. One manifestation of this is with sports teams.   When a team gives up on itself and loses hope, its fans also give up. Their supreme effort to win is dissolved. The conversation turns to next season and new player acquisitions. In European leagues, relegation is assumed, resulting in players looking to change teams. The entire team package is lost until it finds hope once again. CITIES. The city that loses hope, dissembles. It’s laws are not enforced; homelessness rises; city legislatures lose focus toward me

Get Passion

Today’s word is passion : as emotion, an intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction. Notes : If you listen to business shows and the entrepreneurs they interview, you will note one characteristic they all have about their businesses and what they view makes them successful.  Passion.  They always had passion. Passion compels its holder to work harder, work smarter, and work longer. It gives a sense of mission, of caring, and of importance. It makes the labor easier, hours shorter, and satisfaction greater.  Passion is an important component of all success. Do you have passion for what you do?  If no, then consider a switch. Does passion create success, or does success engender passion?  Maybe a little of both. History shows passion is a quality that perseveres without success.  Yet, a little success surely helps your passion IQ.  On the other hand, success without passion is less certain. Get passion.

Scoring Your Life

Life in three’s is a broad scope framework of how we live. Three categories usually work, though sometimes two (e.g. win-lose) suffice. Then again for seasons, spring, summer, fall, and winter seem necessary, though seasons are put upon us, not by choice.   Let's get to living and the divisions by three. We think in three’s, easy, reasonable, difficult. We order in three’s, small medium, large. We travel in three’s, slow, medium, fast. We work in three’s, casual, diligent, intense. We play in three’s, fun, sport, competition. We love in three’s, like, love, obsession. Scoring.  For each category, award one point for the first division, two for the second, and three for the third. Sum them all.  The total should range from 6 to 18. If the total is 10 or less, your life is tepid. A total of 15 or greater tells us you're driving hard.  What's your score?

The Press in the Stable

Many of America’s news reporters have been relegated to the stable, where their sole duty is to shovel manure, hoping their viewers eat it. Well, a job is a job, and the boss decides what to do.  What is a little appalling is that quite a few of them seem to enjoy the work.
