What is Validity?

Validity is a mighty big word. It seems to have its own meaning for each subject, though most center on the notions of correctness, consistency, conformity, and accuracy.   In fact, just Google, “whatchacallit validity” to get another definition.   Below are a few notions of important definitions. a.        As a state, as in being authentic or genuine. b.        As a force, for example legally. c.        As a measurement, as implying it does measure what is purported. d.        In research, as in the accuracy of measurements. e.        As proof, as in obeying the laws of accepted logic and premises. f.         As approved, as by an authority. g.        In statistics, as following and satisfying statistical tests. h.        In methodology, as in properly observing accepted procedures. i.          In prediction, as in how a test predicts another criterion. j.          In construct, as in the degree to which inferences can be made or how two tests closely compare.

Leadership

Leadership is an aspect of your life, in almost every way.     It is important for yourself, in your family, your business, in your city, state and country.   Leadership is critical and crucial in sustaining and promoting a proper social world.  Personal leadership is important for animals of all kinds - us included.  In this brief post, let’s look at just four types of leadership.  These cover more than you might think. ·          Leadership of oneself .   You must first and foremost lead yourself by making frequent life’s decisions.   You must be in charge of what you do, how you look, how you behave, and how you project yourself to others.   Most of us can do this.   Some cannot.   Some cannot make even simple decisions about the regulation of their lives, daily, weekly, annually.   Prisons are full of people that cannot make even the simplest personal decisions; the prison provides needed personal regulation.   Please do not underestimate or dismiss this, the most basic type of

John Kerry, Secretary of State

John Kerry is our new Secretary of State.    This is an Administration appointment at the very highest level.   This puts Kerry as fourth in  line for ascension to the presidency after Joe Biden, Patrick Leahy, and John Boehner. This is a heady job. Wow. Yet Kerry believes he should be the actual president.  (Once you got the bug, it never goes away.  So I'm told.)  Really, he campaigned for the job.  He almost won.  He has his credentials fully in order.  He believes he's the guy that should be making all the big decisions.  So, how will he perform as a distant administration advocate? We'll  see.  My goodness, he just did an interview with FOX news.  What the...?  My (cynical) guess is that if he sees the future presidency is in there somewhere, anywhere, he will go along and play along.  If not, he will follow his own recognizance.  He may do a great job in his new post.  Who knows?  Let hope for him, i.e for us.
