HOW TO LEAD

Every leader has their own style on leadership.  Let's collect some of these for your consideration.  Some apply to work, some at home, some in life.  Teachers are leaders, together with parents, supervisors, CEOs, generals, and presidents.  Not all have all qualities.  Which do you have?

How to lead.

1.     Lead by example.

2.     Lead by doing.

3.     Lead by showing.

4.     Lead by courage.

5.     Lead by decisiveness.

6.     Lead by inventing.

7.     Lead by vision.

8.     Lead by inspiration.

9.     Lead by listening.

10.  Lead by optimism.

11.  Lead by truthfulness.

12.  Lead by reliability.

13.  Lead by self-belief.

How many leadership skills do you have? The great teacher may have skills of inspiration and listening, but what about inventing?  The general may have skills of being decisive and having courage, but what about vision and listening?  You see, leadership captures some aspects but not others.  This is why leadership is among our most important but least defined human attributes

No Sympathy From Me

Suicide Coming Home Many years ago, a friend hung himself in his basement.  I was a pall-bearer at his funeral. I was shocked I was so asked.  I did this.  I did not understand why a good-looking fellow, intelligent, kindly, and true could do such a thing. He did. I do not.  His family suffered greatly.  Yet he left no issue.   Thankfully. To my mind Country singer Mindy McCready, 37, showed us the very height of personal selfishness by committing suicide.  By giving birth to two offspring, she accepted the responsibility to raise her newborn and six-year old son.  She abrogated it spectacularly.  (As did the father a month ago.)  Though she may have suffered depression for any number of reasons, she has little sympathy from me for leaving behind a legacy that is now lost, is now parent-less, and may drift into problems of their own in the future.    There is shame and heartbreak in all this, but blame should be...
