Read Too Much?

Read too much, and you become dependent and lazy in your thinking. Read too little, and you become vulnerable to specious ideas. -------------------- Unresolved what are: too much? too little?  Beware of questions easy to ask and impossible to answer.

The Future Paradox

While most of us believe the future is unknown, we pay good money and believe those who predict what it will be. This is the future paradox.  The future is unknowable. Yet, crowds of people have formed predicting what it will bring. Even more remarkable is that all of us know the first, yet many believe the second. The prediction class blossoms in December and then fade in the new year – to write more books. We crave any word from our politicians, our scientists, our futurists, our astrologers. How can they know, being they are often wrong?  It’s like predicting earthquakes, often made and often wrong. The predictor class is not unlike the insect.  During the early year they are in the larval stage, proceeding to the pupae stage around midyear, and finally in the last months take their adult form full of future predictions. Laying their eggs, usually on TV,  they prepare for the new year, ready to grub about, ready for their adult stage. If they are correct on only a couple of

China Shows Us How

New Wars for New Times  What has changed for you and I  (i.e. old farts)  is the nature of conflict . In the olden days, there were the spies as individuals trying hard to subvert whatever. [1] MAIMONIDES NOTE. This report has been updated, with additional explanation of quasi-truth.  See, this update at this link .      What is Truth has to be one of the big questions of life? Look it up.    Use Google or consult any of the countless volumes on truth.   Truth is one of the biggest subjects in all of philosophy, religion, the law, and science.   It is one of the most important words in any language one can apply to a given statement.   The word “truth”   confers understanding, authority, and consensus.   Truth is a power word; probably none are stronger.  Get a colleague to agree with your truth, not the logic or righteousness of your case, and you have a follower. It is the word.   This implies its meaning must be addressed. It is used by all in
