Happy Birthday - Mozart

Happy Birthday Mozart  January 27, 1756 - December 5, 1791   Mozart – Composer and Techie What do Mozart and I have in common? At first blush, you might suggest, “Both of you like Mozart’s music,” not adding that, “and it ends there.” Close, but there is common ground. The answer is that ... Mozart and I are both “techies.” It all began in 1698. After hundreds of attempts by dozens of craftsmen, the Italian instrument maker Bartolomeo Cristofori* finally solved all the problems inherent in making a  harpsichord with hammers , the Piano Forte. While it is unimportant just what the problems were, the result was the creation of a new instrument with a dynamic range that completely eclipsed the harpsichord. The new sound excited the public; the powerful and rich Medici listed one of Christofori’s instruments in a 1700 inventory of instruments. Here was a powerful new tool, hardly touched by new composition. Techniques and rules of composition for it did not exist. The first ...

DEBATE AND CONFLICT

How can I understand my opponent when we have different opinions? This is an interesting question, partly because we all have differences of opinion, and surely we see them every day in politics. To help you understand, we will give you the principal techniques. A. It’s all in the axioms . Many disagreements stem from a difference in what both of you believe to be true (or correct) when you create your viewpoints. Change the axioms and you will wind up with different conclusions. This assumes other conditions, such as your logic, remain the same. B. Misconceptions or misunderstandings . What this means is that your opposite has a misunderstanding or misconception of something that causes conflicts in your understanding. These take some time to uncover. It is easier to detect for math problems. Often misconceptions cannot be simply revealed as they are intertwined with the belief system. They have to be self-discovered. I recommend you drop the conflict or debate. C. Logical fallac...

Incompetence and Time

Musk: Incompetence in the limit is indistinguishable from sabotage . (I believe Musk is saying the incompetence of CA officials about water and land management has been so neglected, that it would NOT have been worse by sabotage. Something to consider. With AI now with a robotic facility, we question if we are now training our replacements. Many of the ultra-rich who lost homes in the Los Angeles wildfires think how unlucky they are, forgetting for the moment how lucky they have been for years.

CORRUPTION in Business and Government

When a CEO or President is found to be corrupt, you can be assured this person is  not alone. A corrupt president can scarcely work alone. Too many people are aware of his/her activities.   Count on up to the next three levels down is also mostly corrupt. Thus the vice presidents, assistant vice presidents, and many down into the manager ranks are likely corrupt.   You might say corruption grows roots. Why?   Because the corrupt hire the corrupt. Reasons? Comfort factor, operations factor, alliance factor, and cover factor, are just four. Why not further down? Because the corrupt need secrecy, and thus the circle of corruption must remain small, as in manageable to control leaks. How to detect who is corrupt? Look at the group of leaders gaining a total of 90% of the bonus money. This will comprise the inner circle if corruption is present. Examples in business. Wirecard Scandal (2020), WorldCom Scandal (2002), Volkswagen Emissions Scandal (2015), Enron Scan...
