Random Thoughts - 18

Setting sail. On the great galley of life, most of the young graduates end up rowing for scraps, all the while hearing the joy and pageantry drifting down from the top deck.

Dear Mr. Mayor,
If your policies are stupid,
If your bigotry is stupid,
If your decrees are stupid,
If your ideas on education are stupid,
Then you just might be s**d.
The good news is you rank in about the middle of hopefuls
for the next Presidential election.

Socialism? Conservativism? Each system has good points and bad.  However, both systems have their greatest troubles with human greed, for money and/or power.

The Noisy Classes. Socialists like Bernie Sanders don’t care about any factors aside from the more stuff paradigm. Not really practical, they have no plans beyond the great give.  Abject conservatives place all responsibility on individuals, come hell or high water. Business is supreme.

Free. Will Americans ever learn that free services like Facebook and Google are not actually free?

Swamp Stadium. The Swamp has expanded to the Swamp Stadium, a facility with millions of seats.  Each ticket holder roots for their favorite creature. The game is played with no rules. The goal is to utterly destroy their opponent, whomever.  The Press, no longer observing and reporting, acts as cheerleaders splashing about helping their favorites.

Each event of an individual’s destruction is greeted with wild cheers from the crowd. All go home happily slimed.

Dear Mr. President,
On your deal-making,  I am the first to admit I haven’t the faintest clue on your operational calculus for making trade deals with Mexico, Canada, Japan, China and even the EU.  From your party and your opponents, the pundits and college professors, all self-professed trade experts, express near universal trepidation.  They read a lot, write a lot, and love to lecture a lot.  However, you will note the biggest deal ever consummated by most of these folks was to buy their teenager a used car.  So, be careful of whose advice you take.
